Instant messaging app Telegram has been updated to Telegram 4.1 and it comes with a host of new features.

One of them is that maximum size of the supergroups has been increased to 10,000 from an earlier 5,000 members. Another update enables a search to find specific users among them. Admins can also search for members in their specific channels.

Admin rights have now been modified and they can now add admins with specific sets of privileges to help you run your community. You can now choose who among your trusted admins will be able to add new users or manage messages, edit group info, block users or add new admins.

There is also a new feature which can be used for a partial restrictions for members of a group who can’t be banned by the admin. These members can be stopped from sending stickers or media for a certain period of time. You can use admin bots to automatically impose temporary or permanent bans based on member actions.

Another update is the addition of a “Recent Actions” section to the admins page, which stores a log of all service actions taken in the group for the last 48 hours and is only visible to the admin.

Telegram for iOS brings new and improved sharing extensions such as adding an optional comment and selecting multiple recipients easily. For Android it introduces Android Pay support for Bot Payments and improved media selection such as showing of photos and videos together when sharing from the attachment menu.
