Tecno Mobile launches i3, i5 and i7 smartphones in India; prices start from Rs 7,990

Tecno Mobile has announced five new 4G VoLTE capable smartphones in the country. The Chinese manufacturer made its debut in the Indian market with five new models, the Tecno i3, Tecno i3 Pro, Tecno i5, Tecno i5 Pro and Tecno i7 with price tags range from Rs 7,990 to Rs 14,990.

The smartphones sit comfortably between the entry-level and budget segment, with the i3 as the most affordable model and the i7 as the most expensive one. The Tecno i3, Tecno i3 Pro, Tecno i5, Tecno i5 Pro will go on sale in stores starting from 19 April in Punjab, 20 April in Rajasthan and 21 April in Gujarat. The i7 will go on sale in May 2017.

The Tecno i3 is an entry-level device that features a 5-inch HD display. Below it sits a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC with Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.1 GHz. The device offers 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. There’s an 8 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera as well. Powering all of the above is a 3,050 mAh battery with Android 7.0 Nougat (and the company’s custom HiOS) powering the device at the software level.

A more refined and premium version of the rather basic i3 is the Tecno i3 Pro. It features the same hardware specifications with the addition of a fingerprint reader, 3 GB RAM and a Rs 9,990 price tag.

The Tecno i5 adds to the i3 by offering similar specifications with some improved hardware to the mix. User will get a 5.5-inch IPS LCD HD display. Inside there’a a 1.1 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T chipset with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Apart from the display and the slightly improved chipset over the i3, the i5 gets a 13 MP camera on the back and an 8 MP camera on the front. The smartphone is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery and supports Rocket charging with faster than standard charging speeds. Similar to the i3 Pro, the i5 also adds a fingerprint reader and is priced at Rs 11,490.

Lastly, we have most expensive offering of the lot, the Tecno i7. The i7 is priced at Rs 14,990 and features a 5.5-inch LTPS Full HD display, which is a big jump from the HD units on the other models. The handset is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. There’s a 13 MP camera at the rear and a 16 MP camera on the front. The rear camera gets a quad LED flash, while the front-facing camera gets a single LED flash. The handset is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery and runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Tecno’s HiOS skinning on top.

All smartphones will be available in Champagne Gold, Sky Black and Space Grey.
